Why Tri-State

Why Tri-State

Care Under One Roof

Care Under One Roof

Most physical therapy makes you share your therapist with three or four other patients. We don’t. At Tri-State, every session is a full hour with the same licensed therapist — no aides, no rotating faces, no working out on your own in the corner. Just one plan, built around you, and someone who knows your progress from the first visit to the last.

We’re located in a new Hackensack facility alongside an orthopedic physician and a vascular neurologist, so your care stays coordinated. If you need imaging, a specialist opinion,
or a hand-off between providers, it happens in the same place; not across town and three phone calls later.

What We Treat

What We Treat

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing pain, or trying to move better than you have in years, we build the plan around your goal — not a template.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing pain, or trying to move better than you have in years, we build the plan around your goal — not a template.

Orthopedic & Sports Rehab:

Recovering from surgery, a sprain, or a season-ending injury? We rehab the whole movement, not just the sore spot, so you come back stronger, move with confidence, and reduce your risk of future reinjury significantly.

Concussion & Vestibular Recovery:

Dizziness, balance issues, and lingering symptoms after a head injury are treatable. We use targeted vestibular therapy to help your system recalibrate, restore confidence, and get you back to normal life feeling like yourself.

Myofascial Release:

Hands-on treatment that eases tight, restricted tissue to relieve chronic pain, improve mobility, and restore comfortable range of motion. We target the areas holding you back so you can move more freely and effortlessly every single day.

Cupping Therapy:

A proven technique that improves circulation, releases deep muscle tension, and supports faster recovery. We incorporate cupping into your treatment where it can provide the greatest benefit, helping restore mobility and ease everyday muscle discomfort.

TPI-Certified Golf Performance:

As a TPI-certified provider, we assess how your body moves through your swing and identify the physical limitations behind pain, stiffness, and lost distance. Targeted treatment helps you play stronger and stay on the course with greater confidence.

Neck & Back Pain:

Whether it’s a new injury or persistent pain, we identify what’s driving your discomfort and treat the underlying cause. Through hands-on care and targeted movement, we help restore mobility, build strength, and keep pain from returning.

Every plan combines hands-on manual therapy — soft tissue mobilization, myofascial release, cupping, trigger point work — with progressive, individualized exercise.

Your First Visit, Start

Your First Visit, Start
to Finish

Your first appointment is a full evaluation — we listen to your history, assess how you move, and identify what’s actually driving your pain or limitation. Before you leave, you’ll understand your plan and the goal we’re working toward together.

Every visit after that is a full hour with your therapist, adjusting as you progress. No rushing, no guesswork, no wondering whether anyone’s paying attention.

25 years, One Philosophy: You deserve the full hour.

25 years, One Philosophy: You deserve the full hour.

Tri-State was built by Pete Hastings, PT, after 25 years of treating patients and 14 years running his own practice. As physical therapy shifted toward therapists juggling multiple patients and aides running sessions, Pete chose a different approach.

Here, Pete treats you himself: one patient, one therapist, one full hour, every visit. That continuity means he knows where you’ve been, where you’re going, and the small adjustments that keep you progressing.

Pete is TPI-certified and specializes in orthopedic and sports rehab, concussion and vestibular recovery, myofascial release, and cupping. But his focus is simple: getting you back to doing what you love.

Find answers to the most common questions below. If you still have questions of your own, just get in touch.

  • Do I need a referral?

New Jersey allows direct access to physical therapy, so in most cases you can start without a doctor’s referral. Some insurance plans still require one for coverage — call us, and we’ll tell you exactly what your plan needs.

  • What Insurance do you accept?

We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Medicare. Not sure if your plan is covered? Call us at (973) 633-6600, and we’ll verify your benefits before your first visit — no surprises.

  • What is I am Out-of-network?

We also welcome out-of-network and self-pay patients, and we’ll give you a clear, up-front cost for every visit. Many patients with out-of-network benefits are reimbursed a significant portion by their insurer, and we provide the documentation you need to file.

  • Will I see the same therapist every visit?

Yes! You’ll work with Pete himself for your full hour, every session. No aides, no rotating staff, no being handed off.

  • How long is each appointment?

A full hour, one-on-one. Your first visit is a complete evaluation; every visit after is focused hands-on treatment and guided work built around your plan.

  • Do I need a referral from my doctor?

Yes. Many engagements include sessions with the broader team to surface insights, strengthen collaboration, and build shared clarity.

  • What conditions do you treat?

Engagements vary depending on your objectives. Some are focused, single sessions for strategic clarity; others are longer partnerships supporting leadership and organisational transformation over several months.

  • What is TPI-certified golf performance?

Titleist Performance Institute certification means we assess how your body moves through your golf swing and treat the physical limitations behind pain and lost distance — so you play better and stay off the injured list.

  • What should I bring to my first visit?

Your ID, insurance card, any relevant imaging or referral, and comfortable clothing you can move in.

  • How many visits will I need?

It depends on your goals and your body. Pete will give you a realistic plan after your evaluation and adjust it as you progress — no endless open-ended schedules.

  • Where are you located?

We’re on the 3rd floor at 17 Elm Ave in Hackensack, NJ, in a facility alongside an orthopedic physician and a vascular neurologist. Full address, hours, and directions are below.
